Matra-sparshas tu kaunteya shitoshna-sukha-duhkha-dah, agamapayino 'nityas tams titikshasva bharata
O son of Kunti, the contact between the senses and sense objects gives rise to fleeting perceptions of happiness and distress. These are impermanent, and come and go like the winter and summer seasons. O descendant of Bharata, one must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed.

Ye hi samsparsha-ja bhoga duhkha-yonaya eva te, adyantavantah kaunteya na teshu ramate budhah
Enjoyments born of sense contact are sources of suffering; they have a beginning and an end, O son of Kunti. The wise person does not delight in them. Pleasures rooted in sensory contact are inherently transient and therefore ultimately unsatisfying.

Te tam bhuktva svarga-lokam vishalam kshine punye martya-lokam vishanti, evam trayi-dharmam anuprapanna gatagatam kama-kama labhante
After enjoying that vast heavenly realm, when their accumulated merit is exhausted, they return to the mortal world. Thus those who seek enjoyment through the Vedic rituals go and come back, driven by desire. Without desireless devotion, the soul remains caught in the cycle of ascent and descent.
- •All temporary heavens are eventually left behind when merit is exhausted
- •Desire perpetuates the cycle of repeated birth and death
- •Only desireless worship of God grants permanent liberation
Kim punar brahmanah punya bhakta raja-rshayas tatha, anityam asukham lokam imam prapya bhajasva mam
How much more then, righteous brahmanas and devoted royal sages — having obtained this impermanent and joyless world, engage in devotional service unto Me. If even those in lower positions can attain God, those born into righteous circumstances should certainly seize the opportunity for bhakti.

Vaktrāṇi te tvaramāṇā vishanti daṁṣhṭrākarālāni bhayānakāni, kechid vilagnā daśhanāntareṣhu sandṛishyante chūrṇitair uttamāṅgaiḥ
They rush into Your terrifying, gaping mouths with fearful fangs. Some are seen caught between Your teeth with their heads already crushed.

- •No one is spared from the cycle of dissolution
- •The vision reveals the frightening truth of impermanence
