Ajo 'pi sann avyayatma bhutanam ishvaro 'pi san, prakritim svam adhisthaya sambhavamy atma-mayaya
Though I am unborn and imperishable, though I am the Lord of all beings, yet by ruling over My own material nature, I appear through My own divine power (yoga maya).
- •The divine incarnates through free will, not compulsion
- •God is unborn yet appears in time through maya
- •Divine manifestation is a gracious act, not a limitation
Naham prakashahah sarvasya yoga-maya-samavritah, mudho 'yam nabhijanati loko mam ajam avyayam
I am not manifest to everyone, being veiled by My yoga-maya. This deluded world does not know Me as unborn and eternal. God is veiled from ordinary perception by the divine power of yoga-maya. Without sincere spiritual seeking and purification, the eternal nature of God remains hidden.
- •Yoga-maya is the divine veil that conceals God from casual seekers
- •God's eternal, unborn nature is hidden from those in delusion
- •Spiritual purification is necessary to perceive the Divine directly
Yo mam ajam anadim ca vetti loka-maheshvaram, asammudho sa martyeshu sarva-papaih pramucyate
One who knows Me as unborn, without beginning, the Supreme Lord of all worlds — that person among mortals is undeluded and freed from all sins. Recognising the eternal and beginningless nature of God purifies the soul and removes the ignorance that is the root of all bondage.
- •Knowing God as unborn and beginningless leads to liberation from sin
- •True knowledge of God dispels all delusion
- •The Lord's eternal nature is the foundation of all authentic spiritual understanding
